De Vinosalvo on TV!

De Vinosalvo is a small vintner producing hand-crafted wines from selected parcels of fruit grown in its own vineyards near Cinigiano in the Tuscan Maremma. With an australo-italian emigrée as our winemaker and chief dreamer, it’s only natural that we grow Shiraz (but also Sangiovese) as the basis for great Mediterranean reds. A fitting symbol of our company philosophy is the name we have borrowed from a fundamental figure in the history of oenology: GALFRIDUS DE VINOSALVO.
Galfridus de Vinosalvo (Geoffrey à Vinsauf to the English) was a highly prolific writer and polymath of mediaeval times. Galfridus hailed from England and is known in our times for having written numerous works, the most famous of which is his treatise on grapegrowing and winemaking – De vino et vitibus conservandis – which earned him the moniker de Vinosalvo (the saviour of wine culture) by which he came to be known.
We have shamelessly appropriated his name for our company; let’s say it’s our way of honouring the memory of such a seminal figure in the history of wine science.
